Updates to our data privacy policies and terms and conditions
(GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation)
You have probably heard about a major change to data privacy laws in the UK taking effect from 25th May 2018. The General Data Protection Regulations, known as GDPR, enable you to have more control over how your data is used and how we make contact with you.
We may already have a mobile number recorded for you on our records, obtained at the time you registered with us, or subsequently as part of our routine interaction with you. Within the parameters of this 'implied consent' we will continue to use this number to make contact with you regarding your medical care and to enable you to receive SMS messages from the surgery for appointment reminders or other matters relating to your registration as a patient at the practice. Those contact details will not be divulged to a third party. If you no longer want us to contact you in this way please inform our reception team so that your medical records can be updated. There is nothing that you need to do as unless you notify us differently, your existing contact details will remain on your GP health record for use in this way. It is also important to make sure that you tell us about any changes to your contact details as we will always use the details that we have on your record until we are informed differently.
Our updated policies also explain the following :
- The type of personal information we collect and how we use it
- The legal grounds that exist for using it
- Your rights in relation to the information we hold about you and how you can access it
Please click on the Further Information - General Data Protection Regulations tab on the right hand side for more information.
